Common conversions
How to use the unit converter
- 1Choose a measurement type: length, weight and mass, temperature, or volume.
- 2Enter the amount, including decimal values.
- 3Select the From and To units. The result updates automatically.
- 4Use the ⇄ button to reverse the units or copy the complete equivalence.
Length conversion
The metric system organizes millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), meters (m), and kilometers (km) in powers of ten. The converter also includes US customary inches (in), feet (ft), yards (yd), and miles (mi).
For example, 1 m equals 100 cm, 1 in equals 2.54 cm, and 1 mi equals 1.609344 km. You can convert in either direction without rounding the internal calculation.
Weight and mass conversion
Convert milligrams (mg), grams (g), kilograms (kg), and metric tons (t), as well as ounces (oz) and pounds (lb). Common reference points include 1 kg at approximately 2.20462262185 lb and 1 lb at exactly 453.59237 g.
Temperature conversion
Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin do not share a single conversion factor because their scales also use different offsets. Each direction therefore has its own formula.
°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
°C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
K = °C + 273.15
°C = K − 273.15
Volume conversion
The converter includes milliliters (ml), liters (L), and cubic meters (m³), plus US teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, pints, and gallons.
These cooking and volume units use US customary definitions. A US gallon is not the same as an imperial gallon, and a US fluid ounce is not the same as an imperial fluid ounce. This converter does not mix the two systems.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert meters to centimeters?
Multiply the number of meters by 100. For example, 1.5 m equals 150 cm.
How do I convert kilometers to miles?
Divide kilometers by 1.609344. You can also select Kilometers (km) under From and Miles (mi) under To for an automatic result.
How many pounds are in a kilogram?
One kilogram is approximately 2.20462262185 pounds.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply degrees Celsius by 9/5, then add 32. This makes 0 °C equal to 32 °F and 100 °C equal to 212 °F.
What is the difference between a US and an imperial gallon?
They are different units. One US gallon equals 3.785411784 liters; this converter uses only the US customary definition and labels it as US gal.
Does the converter accept decimals and negative numbers?
Yes. It accepts a decimal point or comma. Negative values are especially useful for temperature; use them for other measurements only when they make sense in your context.
Are the conversions exact?
Calculations retain the defined conversion factors precisely. The interface limits displayed digits to avoid floating-point artifacts without changing the internal value.
