Use “Between dates” to count business days, working days, or workdays in a date range. Use “Add or subtract” to find the date before or after a number of business days.
Weekends and excluded dates
Monday through Friday count by default. You can enable Saturday or Sunday and manually add holidays or other non-working dates; a date already excluded as a weekend is not subtracted twice.
Practical example
Starting on a Friday and adding two business days with the default calendar skips Saturday and Sunday, producing the following Tuesday. The breakdown also shows the calendar days traversed.
Why holidays are manual
Holiday calendars vary by country, region, and industry. The calculator does not assume a jurisdiction or load a national calendar that may not apply.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a business day?
With the default settings, any Monday through Friday that is not listed as an additional excluded date.
Does it count Saturdays and Sundays?
Not by default. You can enable Saturday, Sunday, or both as business days.
Are public holidays included automatically?
No. Add them as excluded dates because holidays differ by country, region, and industry.
How do I find the date two business days from a start date?
Choose “Add or subtract business days,” select the start date, enter 2, and choose Add.
